Dmytro Shevchuk: Non-obviating doom (review for Krytyka)

Doctor of Science in the field of Philosophy, Professor, Vice-Rector for Research and Teaching of the National University of Ostroh Academy, team member of the EURoCoPR Dmytro Shevchuk published a review of Neil Ferguson’s book (Neil Ferguson. Doom: politics and catastrophes, Translated from English by Kateryna Disa, Kyiv: Nash format, 2022, 496 p.) in the magazine “Krytyka”.

Political structures are closely intertwined with natural phenomena. Doom becomes a political concept, and political strategies and decisions are aimed at anticipating and avoiding disasters. So, according to Ferguson’s fundamental thesis, the history of disasters cannot be considered separately from economic, social, cultural and political history.
