Ostroh Academy students participated in the certificate program “Activism in Cyberspace as a Countermeasure to Hybrid Threats”

From May 1 to June 19, 2024, students of Ostroh Academy participated in the certificate program “Activism in Cyberspace as a Countermeasure to Hybrid Threats,” which is being implemented as part of Jean Monnet’s project “Civil Society in Conflict Resolution Process: EU Experience for Ukraine.”

During the course, participants had the opportunity to attend 20 lectures and take part in 10 practical classes. Participants gained in-depth knowledge of cyber activism and its role in combating hybrid threats, successfully explored various aspects of cyberspace, including mechanisms for inciting conflict through social networks, as well as effective strategies for countering disinformation.

Speakers included:

  • Dmytro Shevchuk, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work;
  • Serhii Ishchuk, Doctor of Law, Associate Professor, Professor of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law;
  • Tetiana Sydoruk, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of International Relations ;
  • Olena Shershnova, Project Coordinator, PhD in Public Administration, Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism and PR Management;
  • Kateryna Yakunina, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Assistant to the Rector for Strategic Development and Quality Assurance .

“This course is an important step in training qualified specialists capable of effectively countering hybrid threats in the modern world. It not only raised participants’ awareness of current challenges, but also ‘armed’ them with the necessary tools to actively participate in the protection of the information space,” said Sergii Ishchuk, Doctor of Law, Associate Professor, Professor of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, member of the EURoCoRP team.

We would like to remind you that the project “Civil Society in Conflict Resolution Process: EU Experience for Ukraine” (101084973 — EURoCoRP — ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH) is being implemented by the National University of Ostroh Academy with co-financing from the European Union and aims to promote the values of EU civil society in the conflict resolution process and raise awareness of contemporary hybrid conflicts.
